Types of questions

 Question Tags: solemos usar una "question tag", para verificar lo que hemos dicho anteriormente; se hace usando el auxiliar y el sujeto pero si es afirmativa la frase del "question tag" va en negativo y si la frase es negativa la "question tag" va en afirmativa ) para verificar lo que hemos dicho anteriormente. 

You are French, aren´t you?             They are not students, are they?     She is a nurse, isn´t she?

Emphatic questions: usamos oraciones enfáticas usando "who" o "what" y también expresiones como "whoever, who/ what on earth", debemos poner énfasis en las palabras para hacer una afirmación.

I´m scared about it.: you are scared about what?

Jennifer wrote me a letter: who on earth wrote me?

Bertrand advised me about the issue with houses : Whoever advised you about the houses...

Embedded questions: preguntas incrustadas.

Son preguntas dentro de otra afirmación o pregunta. Normalmente siguen el orden de una afirmación más que una interrogación, por lo tanto el sujeto normalmente viene antes del verbo.

Ex. The wondered what time the cat had left.       Could you tell me what is the time?

Alternative questions: they are questions which can only be answered by means of Yes or No, and the

structure has always Auxiliary verb + Subject + Verb + Complement ? and the answer should always

be "Yes, subject + auxiliary verb" or "No, subject + auxiliary verb + not (preferably contracted with V).

Open questions: they are interrogatives that start with any interrogative pronouns "who/ what / how / where/ why / when..." and prompt to open questions with a information. 

Subject questions refer to a person, animal or entity who does the action of the verb.

Subject questions are usually beginning with the interrogative pronoun "who, what".

Object questions refer to the direct object of the sentence, thus the interrogative pronoun

at the beginning even though it may be "who, what, whose, whom, etc. refer the question to

what does the action of the verb. They carry always an auxiliary verb in the interrogative sentence.

King Arthur is a legendary hero probably based on the historical figure of a Roman general who fought against the invading Saxons in the 5th or early 6th century A.D. in Britannia.
